Medical Transport Scheme

The Parish Council is very pleased to launch the ‘Boughton Monchelsea Medical Transport Scheme’, providing free taxi transport to local medical appointments for residents in the village and outlying rural areas – see poster below for further details. Please contact Express Cabs directly on 01622 222222 to book your journey. A full list of eligible postcodes and approved local medical facilities is shown below.

The scheme is being run with a finite pot of money so it’s really important to continue getting lifts to and from medical appointments from family, friends and neighbours whenever possible. This will ensure the service remains available into the future for those most in need.

The medical transport scheme is funded solely by developer contributions from the Lyewood housing development, not from the proportion of Council tax paid by residents as Parish Council ‘precept’. The developer contribution was obtained via a section 106 legal agreement between Crest Nicholson and Maidstone Borough Council, in response to the poor public transport service in Boughton Monchelsea village and outlying rural areas. Unfortunately the funds cannot be used to provide transport for residents living in the newer developments off Brishing Lane and at Langley Park, which are better served by public transport.

If you have any queries regarding the scheme please contact the parish clerk [email protected]
